WritingTool extends LibreOffice's text editing functionality with a writing assistant. It is designed for creating and editing extensive texts (e.g., for literature, science, and business). WritingTool offers the following functionality:

• Automatic spelling and grammar checking in the background, based on LanguageTool, which is also optimized for extensive texts.

• Use of additional optional rules for grammar and style checking.

• Manual spelling and grammar checks are not only for Writer, but also for Impress and Calc.

• Statistical analysis of texts to obtain tips on improving writing style.

• AI support for automatic background checks, manual editing of paragraphs, creation of texts and images.

WritingTool works on the local computer by default. A network connection is not necessary. An AI server is required to use AI. However, WritingTool is optimized for use with local installations. Optionally, access to a network server is also supported for all functions.
